  2. Just to reiterate what I said in class... If you're not on facebook and don't want to sign up, you can team up with someone else in the class for problem 4. (But you still have to write up your own answer to the problem.)

  3. I got a question over email about how to hand in the homework -- Just drop it off at my office (Ann 215) before 6pm the day it's due.

  4. With regard to the letter with instructions we have to craft. Do our friends have to take an purely independent decision that they think is the best one or can the letter provide hints and instructions?

For example say that I actually know a path from me to a target. Am I allowed to convey that knowledge as instructions (strict) or additional information that may or may not act upon (loose)?

  5. I'm afraid you're not allowed to convey path information to your intermediaries, in a strict or loose manner :-)

You can at best give your intermediaries general guidelines (not specific to the target) about whom they should forward to.

  6. WRT Problem 2b, and the definition of loop:
Do I only get a dollar if I tie the rope to its own end, or do I also get a dollar if I tie a loop using 2 (or more) ropes?

  7. To Dallin: It is not need to be its own end. A loop may contain several ropes.

  8. In the facebook message am I allowed to include a link to the target's facebook profile?

  9. To Sonal: Yes, feel free to include a link to the targets.

  10. WRT the Facebook Problem: Should we expect some sort of confirmation if our message has reached the target?

  11. To anthonyc: Whether or not you get a confirmation from the target depends on what directions you have given in your message. However, the targets will definitely inform us when they receive a message, so we'll let you know then.
